Nexus is an outcome-based solutions provider, offering extensive relocation and change management to a wide range of organisations.
The solutions we provide are as varied as our client base, ensuring that no matter how complicated or challenging a change event or relocation appears, it is delivered on time and on budget.
Nexus was appointed to manage the relocation of the Natural History Museum’s insect and plant specimen collections to the brand new Darwin Centre. Given the age and fragility of the collection, the move required careful planning and specialist management.
All specimens were transferred in taxonomic order, which combined efficiency, safety and continuity, while respecting the requirements of the museum’s research staff. To achieve this, the teams designed a simple, resilient and versatile packing solution, which involved freezing and thawing the specimens without damaging them before moving them to their new home.
When the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia embarked upon its move from Mayfair to Victoria it turned to Nexus to develop, manage and implement the relocation programme, as well as to provide a full desktop IT decommissioning and re-commissioning service; fine art packing and relocation and crate supply.
Since embassy staff had to maintain contact with Jakarta, work was phased to ensure continuous communications. Our experienced IT specialists developed a project plan, including pre-move surveys and photographs of equipment, before ensuring full connectivity in the new building a week ahead of the move. As a result, the move was completed to deadline, with no disruption to consular services.
Nexus was engaged by international, award-winning digital marketing agency Forward3D ahead of its move to new offices in Spitalfields, London. Having developed a programme, our furniture teams installed 112 new desks and 220 pedestals, as well as relocating more than 150 existing desks, desktop IT, storage media, files and staff belongings, in just three days.
To ensure business continuity, our IT experts worked closely with Forward3D to develop a plan to migrate 250 users, 40 spare IT set-ups and 11 meeting rooms to the new system over four days. The final element was the installation of an audio and visual system, which included projection screens, monitors, lighting and audio connections.
In order to improve operational efficiency, St. George’s Hospital needed Nexus’ help to bring its off-site facilities to the main site and close older buildings that were no longer fit-for-purpose. Space on the site was extremely restricted, so we used our warehouse facilities to hold furniture and equipment to prevent congestion in busy areas like operating theatres. We also made sure clinical and outreach services could continue as staff were relocated.
One of the biggest tasks was to support the hospital’s in-house IT department to decommission, pack, move and re-commission desktop IT equipment, providing detailed records throughout. Our IT specialists then audited, stored, delivered and installed furniture out-of-hours to minimise disruption and according to the timescale.
